Hi there
My name is Japdeep Sidhu. I’m a third-year Computer Science student at Simon Fraser University with interests in software development, web technologies, and AI. I enjoy building practical projects and continuously improving my problem-solving skills.
Beyond technology, I'm interested in design, education and understanding hopw software impacts society.
Below are details of some of the projects I have developed over my University life.
Projects
Disaster Alert System
2025
- JavaScript
- Leaflet.js
- HTML
- CSS
- Web APIs
- Geolocation
The Disaster Alert System is an interactive web application that helps users monitor real-time wildfire activity across Canada. It fetches live satellite fire data from NASA FIRMS and visualizes it on an interactive map using Leaflet.js.
Users can search for their location, view nearby wildfire incidents filtered by confidence and intensity, and receive evacuation routes to safe zones using OpenRouteService. This project demonstrates integration of real-time APIs, geospatial visualization, and practical emergency awareness tools.

Vancouver Crime Dashboard
2025
- JavaScript
- Chart.js
- HTML
- CSS
- Data Visualization
- Web Dev
The Vancouver Crime Dashboard is a web-based data visualization platform that presents crime statistics across Vancouver using interactive charts and filtering tools. It enables users to explore crime trends, compare different offense categories, and gain insights through dynamic visual representations.
This project demonstrates front-end development, data visualization, and the ability to transform raw datasets into meaningful and accessible insights for users.
